Signature Pocket Castings:

At Meadowcroft Heirloom Billiards we have designed and created castings for deeper corner and side pockets. This allows for fine quality leatherwork on the pocket tops, tooled in a style co-ordinated with the overall table design. The photos below show our corner and side pocket irons versus standard irons.

Wide Top Rails and Pockets:

Just as important, our top rails are wider than most other tables so we don’t have to "neck" down as the rail meets the pocket. As a result our wide rails meet the deeper pockets creating clean and uncluttered lines.

Unique Pocket Shields:

Because of our deeper pocket design there is extra room between the leather pocket net and the pocket shield. This allows us to create a hardwood pocket shield. On the Manchester table, the shield is a linenfold design and helps to further enhance the style and appeal of the table and is unique to Meadowcroft Heirloom Billiards tables.

Ornate Inlays:

We inlay genuine mother of pearl and/or abalone into all our rails to match the style of the table. The actual diamond shape is used as a sight and conforms in its size, shape and location to World Pool Association specifications for tournament play.

Substantial Wide Rails:

Our rail widths are a substantial five inches (seven if you include the cushions) and our rail thickness is a full 1-5/8”. The rails are finished with 12 to 15 coats of high strength lacquer which is applied after grain filling to achieve a brilliant and smooth finish.

Blinds:

At Meadowcroft Heirloom Billiards we start with 1-1/2” stock and finish to around 1-1/4” thick with an ornately carved design that stretches the blind to 5-1/2 inches deep. The heft of our blinds complement the full thickness of our wide top rails and allow for deep carving that gives the table character.

Aprons:

Our aprons stretch between full height legs and are mortise and tennoned into the top of the legs, then secured with blocking from the inside. The aprons are suspended vertically with an ornately carved front face. Starting out as 2” stock, we assemble and mill before carving. The aprons are generally 13” to 14” at the deepest point and form part of the outer frame rigidity. We carve up to 3/4" deep in these substantial components.

Legs:

At Meadowcroft Heirloom Billiards we will always design and create full height legs (27") for our tables. We have no desire to create a table with a stubby (generally 17”) style of leg that is so prevalent elsewhere. We add another 10 or so inches to that for our designs. The long legs allow for sweeping curves and design originality. The Meadowcroft Heirloom Billiards legs are robust and form the basis of a very stable and substantial table yet support this weight with grace and elegance.

Carving:

On our tables you will never find any carving that is not carved from the original piece of wood that comprise our blinds, aprons and legs. We go to great lengths to ensure that our carvings never appear to be appliquéd onto a background and deliberately carve deeply into the hardwood to accent and highlight the carving, leaving some of the full wood thickness evident for contrast. Notice how the light reflects from the many deeply curved flowing surfaces on our carvings, bringing them to life.

Inner Support Frame:

We do not depend solely on our main outer frame to keep the slate of our tables steady and conforming to World Pool Association specs. We manufacture an inner frame which adds to the overall solidness of our tables. Machined from 2” poplar stock, the inner support frame is fastened to the outer frame and solidifies the table overall This creates a flat surface to support the poplar backed slate.
